Yama Yoga offers classes in the tradition of Krisnamachariya, the grandfather of modern yoga. Classes are based on astanga yoga, vinyasa yoga, jivamukti yoga and vini yoga. Taken together these are “Flow” forms.



All Flow classes emphasize breath and flowing movement. This helps to develop flexibility, strength, endurance and a deep sense of well being. Classes are led by highly trained, creative and dedicated teachers.



Students are encouraged to explore the various forms until they find a practice that is suited to them. Salsa and pre-natal yoga classes are also offered.



Introduction to Yoga: (Level 1 class) 6 to 8 session course to introduce beginners to the fundamentals of yoga. The program prepares students to safely enter any class. (Duration: One hour)



Open Beginners: (Level 1/2 class) Drop in class designed to introduce students to the challenges and joys of flow based yoga forms. (Duration: One hour and 15 mins.)



Gentle Yoga: A series of restful yoga poses based on the principles of mindfulness.



Ashtanga 1: (Level 1/2 class) Drop in class designed to introduce students to the astanga standing and closing series. (Duration: One hour and 15 mins.)



Vinyasa 1: (Level 1/2 class) Drop in class designed to introduce students to flow based vinyasa forms. (Duration: One hour and 15 mins.)



Mysore: (Level 2/3) The traditional practice of ashtanga is the Mysore practice, named for the town it comes from. In a Mysore class all students work to their own levels and at their own pace following the set series of poses. (Duration 20 mins to 2 hours.)



Pre-Natal Yoga: A class designed to prepare you physically and emotionally for the upcoming event and to help you feel your best during pregnancy. (Duration: 1 hour 15 mins.)

Jiva Mukhti Yoga: Jivamukti Yoga is a physical, ethical, and spiritual practice, combining a vigorous vinyasa style with adherence to five central themes such as scripture, devotion, non-violence, music and meditation. Drop in class open to mixed levels. (Duration: 90 minutes)



Power Yoga: ower yoga is a vigorous, fitness-based approach to yoga and does not follow a set series of poses. Therefore, any power yoga class can vary widely from the next. What they all have in common is an emphasis on strength and flexibility. This class is open to mixed level and those wanting to be pushed to the limits. (Duration: 90 minutes)



Vinyasa Yoga: Vinyasa literally translates as flow with breath. It is a flowing, dynamic form of yoga, connected to breath so transitions are embodied as linkages within and between poses. This class is for mixed levels or those who are ready for a challenge (Duration: 90 minutes)



Ashtanga Yoga: This classical form of yoga is taught in the traditional sequence that was created by its founder K. Pattabhi Jois. It combines power and flexibility with movement, bandhas and breath to produce an energetic and detoxifying practice. This class is open for mixed levels, those who are focused and looking for a vigorous practice. (Duration: 90 minutes)
